Port Smith

What to expect

After hearing some good reviews and feedback, we decided to pull in and check Port Smith out. ⁣

Once you pull off the Great Northern Hwy you’ll hit the dirt for approximately 20km on one of the smoothest roads you’ll drive on. It was almost better than bitumen! We were very happy with the size of the sites on offer that had plenty of room for the van/car and the kids to run around. ⁣

One heads up on the park, they strictly enforce that you cannot drop your grey water as their sewerage system cannot handle the quantity. Only dish water is accepted, which might turn a few people off. We managed to get by without dropping our grey water for two days. ⁣

Highlight

The highlight of Port Smith is the lagoon, basically a large river inlet that’s fed by the ocean. On low tide you can walk most of the river systems and go nuts exploring. It was a lot of fun to take the family through some amazing areas looking for crabs & fish. Just a great location to chill out for the day and just relax with the family. We did exactly that with our little gazebo from oztrail australia having a day well spent exploring/swimming plus a couple cheeky cold ones. 🍻 ⁣
