Carnarvon

After the mad dash south, we decided to stop into Carnarvon to checkout whats in town. After pulling into camp, we went straight to the Carnarvon Visitor Centre to see what we could checkout around town. ⁣

The Fruit Loop

First thing on the list was the ‘the fruit loop’ that’s right, lol it’s basically a big loop that you can drive that takes you past local produce stores and working plantations, some of which run roadside stalls or shop fronts where you can purchase a wide range of preserves, dried fruits and ice-creams made fresh from seasonal fruit and vegetables. ⁣

The Insta-Famous Cactus Garden!

On this loop you will also find the Insta-famous cactus garden that everyone loves visiting when in town! Why it’s there? It's one man's hobby garden! The first cacti was planted some 15 years ago and now there are over 30 cactus plants, some of which tower over 5m tall. Honestly it’s so random but incredible at the same time, definitely something to checkout while your in town. ⁣

Carnarvon Space & Technology Museum

Another huge attraction is the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, this is one of those places that you don’t experience everyday but definitely a lot of fun and interesting. Jam packed full of interesting facts and cool equipment you can play with. With a heap of hands on activities for the kids, even they were entertained!⁣

An unexpected gem… Don’t listen to the reviews that say “drive straight through!”

We enjoyed our time in Carnarvon, it’s a great little town that doesn’t get much credit. It’s amazing what you experience & learn when you slow down & look around. ⁣
