Lawn Hill

Access Roads

Wow what a drive it was to get out to this magic spot! 4.5hrs, and half of that was on some of the hardest dirt roads we have driven yet. The landscape out that way is very rocky which in turn gives you the same for a road. ⁣

We did well getting to Adels Grove caravan park after crossing some amazing, but slippery water crossings. We weren’t so lucky leaving as we punctured our rear left tyre on the sharp, rocky road. ⁣

The station

Apart from the road in & out, Lawn Hill NP & Adels are one spectacular location, well and truly worth the drive. We have never experienced such amazing fresh water springs before! The water was just something else. ⁣

We stayed 3 nights on a powered site at Adels Grove with water available to top up from nearby for $75 per night. This is the most we’ve paid for a powered site and were a little shocked, but then I guess money must be made somewhere when you are so remote and out of the high season. The powered sites are only a new addition to Adels Grove which they are trialling during the wet season.⁣

Experiences

Some people would call us crazy for considering stay out so far west so late in the year, but we must admit it was amazing to have the place to ourselves! Yes it was hot, but the water was next level and we had power for aircon to retreat to. ⁣

The gorge is located 7km from the campsite, a short drive up the road and you find yourself in a beautiful oasis. 🌴 What a bloody sight this place was! Never seen so much amazing blue, clear water in the middle of nowhere! It was beautiful. ⁣

Being remote, it’s nice to know they have fuel available onsite, both petrol & diesel which was around the $1.60 mark, along with toilets & showers blocks. The camp kitchen is really amazing with meals being served for breakfast, lunch & dinner. All in all, we had a really great time here.
