We had a great opportunity to head inland to a small country town called Moora and meet up with someone special followers. Their names are Warren & Kylie and these incredible people are big supporters of ours and offered us the chance to stay with them on their working farm so we could learn about how a farm operates & the life of a farmer. In true Big Oz style, we took them up on this opportunity!
Short rundown, they farm 3 main things:
1. Wheat
2. Barley
3. Lupin
Plus, they have a small operation which also involves sheep. They are a very busy little enterprise with plenty going on. To have the chance to come interrupt them for a few days & film while they harvested their grains, we were very grateful.
We had the most amazing time hanging out and learning all the ins & outs of this industry. Had a go at operating the header (the machine that harvests all the products) and the kids had a ball riding around in the machines & on quad bikes.
To see where your food comes from is definitely eye opening, the work & effort that goes into an operation like this is crazy! It gives you a new appreciation of what you have on your plate when you buy it off of the shelf. And to give the kids the exposure was rewarding too, these days we don’t see the other side, only what is on or in the packet.
We are lucky to meet some incredible people on the journey and make great friends friends along the way. This time was definitely no different!
