“Resident salt water Crocs measuring up at over 5m long”
Free camping at it’s best! This place was awesome. 🤟🏼 Located just outside of Kununurra & over the famous Ivanhoe Crossing you’ll find this slice of paradise. Complete with a resident salt water Crocs measuring up at over 5m long. 🐊
The reason this place is called Buttons is from the river rock that makes up the ground that you camp on. The smooth round shape on the stones give it a button look. Which by the way was a nice change from the red dust & dirt. Our highlight was falling asleep to the sound of running water of a night being parked up near the water. (but not too close 🐊)
There is plenty of room for a load of keen campers along the river. The entry into the camping area is down a small section of washouts that will get the van flexing, but to be honest it’s really nothing to stress about, many people brought their on road caravans down next to the river too.
One of our favorite free camps around the Kununurra area, only a 30min drive out of town & down a dirt track you can have your own space with a stunning view.
