“The river systems consist of so many amazing sights”
Honestly the Kimberley is just insane, there is nowhere you can’t go and experience something incredible. So much to see & do up here even in the wet season! He had another opportunity to take out the People Smuggler boat again.
This time was a little different, was a family member’s birthday and thought a boat trip with family for the day was a great idea. We decided to drop the boat in at the jetty next to the Kimberley land caravan park and set off up the Ord River system.
The river systems consist of so many amazing sights, a few being the Diversion Dam up close/ elephant rock which is a huge rock that resembles a elephant head, very cool/ countless waterfalls if it’s been raining a day or two before hand/ jump rock a famous rock platform that stands about 3-4 stories high that you can launch off and plenty more.
It’s honestly the most amazing trip, if you follow it all the way you’ll run into the Lake Argyle dam wall. But only suitable for smaller boats as it can become tight as you get closer. We got a far way up considering but pulled up to a location known as sand beach 2, what is it? Exactly that a random sand island on the side of the river. Was our lunch stop for the day.
Was a great day spent on the water celebrating a birthday and taking in the beauty of the Kimberley in the wet. If you have a boat we definitely recommend you checking out the Ord River if you have the opportunity, you won’t be disappointed.
